Today, I wondered why people look away when you look them in the eye. Is the connection too intense? Can you really see into someone's soul through his/her eyes? What are we all hiding from one another?

  1. The Chinese invented sunglasses in the 13th Century. They were used by Judges to hide their eyes. So that people couldn't see what they were thinking. Eyes are definitely "windows to the soul". Actually, peoples eyes move away for several reason. Look a dog in the eye, and usually, if they are submissive, they will signal this by looking away. You can tell what a person is thinking - generally - by looking at they eye movements. If the person is right handed, if they look away, up to your left, they are "creating" an image. Up and to your right and they are seeing a remembered image, if they are talking to themselves internally before answering, as in constructing an excuse, or lie, the eyes move down and right. This is all very general, but, I like to watch what peoples eyes do when talking to them. Only 60% of communication between two people together is verbal. 40% is non-verbal - eye movements, posture, loudness, hands, etc. You can learn a lot about a person in a very short time just by watching them. But, since your own eyes also move when you talk - subconscious - you have to learn to control your own eyes when you think and talk, so you can keep watching. I love your "about me". I think your blog is a great idea, but I hate this text box I have to type in. I can't move back and edit what I've already typed. Oh, well. Looking forward to some good reading here.
